Facebook reviews are a great idea, unless of course they are abused. Sadly, this is often the case and I’ve been asked by several people how they can turn off Facebook page reviews.
It’s really simple to do and more importantly, you can easily turn the reviews back on should you wish without losing any old reviews.
How To Turn Off Facebook Page Reviews
The process for this changed slightly in 2014 and so this is the new way to turn reviews off. Simply go to the Facebook page that you want to change and click the ‘About’ button below the header image. Then click ‘Page Info’ and look for category and click edit.
It’s only the category called ‘Local Business’ that allows reviews to be left. Any other category will automatically switch the reviews off. So, choose a new category and then a sub category below., click save changes and you’re done!
If you ever want to use the review system on your page in the future, you can simply run through this procedure again and choose Local Business as your category. Your reviews will return, including your old reviews.
You can of course report any rogue reviews that you get. Facebook will look at the source of the review and they have access to IP addresses etc to determine if the review was left maliciously.
